Embedding Video From Other Websites

For some people who are new to the web, the concept of "embedding" videos into your website is a fairly new one. You've been on YouTube and blogs, and you know you can put the video on your site but you're not exactly sure how. We're out to make this whole process super easy.

We support 99% of the video services out there (we're reserving the 1% for the services we haven't found out about yet!), but we recommend a select few:

1. Vimeo: www.vimeo.com

As far as free services go, this is your best bet. Their video quality is really high, and their site is nice and easy to use. All of our artsy production friends love it.

2. YouTube: www.youtube.com

Everybody has their hang-ups with YouTube, but they are the originators. They now allow you to strip away those annoying "related videos" that come up at the end of every video. You can rest assured that if you embed a video that relates to "The Passion of the Christ", you won't get any other videos relating to the tag "Passion" popping up for your viewers.

3. Lightcast Media: www.lightcastmedia.com

This is a Christian company that is doing some great things. If you don't mind paying for their service, they have some additional features that Vimeo or YouTube don't offer (such as being able to jump to any point in the duration of the video without waiting for it to load completely, real-time statistics, and the fact that they're made specically for ministries).

Curious about where you find the "embed code" on these services?

We know it's not always obvious where to find this code, so we want to make it as easy as possible for you. Here's a quick tutorial on where to go for the three services listed above. If you're using a different one and can't figure out where to find the code, give us a call at 805-527-8900 and we'll help you out.
